Painted Bathroom Cabinets Before and After

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly way to update a bathroom cabinet, try refreshing it with a fresh coat of paint. This is what we did in our primary bathroom just before listing our house for sale. Even though I wanted to replace it entirely, it still looks modern and fits right in with the rest of our bathroom remodel design. Check out our painted bathroom cabinets before and after below.

Budget-Friendly DIY: Painted Bathroom Cabinets

We were blessed with dual 90’s shell sinks in our primary bathroom. Updating our sink vanity was the last project in our Green Bathroom remodel. We knew we’d be moving soon, so rather than buy an expensive new cabinet, we gave our existing one a major upgrade.

A fresh coat of paint, new countertop, and hardware from amazon absolutely transformed this cabinet!

First we removed the countertop and backsplash. Then I scuff sanded the bathroom cabinets and added coat of primer. I unscrewed the cabinet doors and drawer and took them to the garage to repaint.

Next, we picked up a basic, modern-looking all-in-one sink and countertop from Lowe’s and installed it on the existing bathroom cabinet box.

I was intimidated on how to install a countertop, but it was surprisingly easy! We added a bead of caulk around the bottom edge to keep it in place.

Once the countertop was in, I started painting the bathroom cabinets.

To coordinate with the cultured marble countertop, white floor tile, warm white walls, matte black hardware, and the dark green wall treatment, I chose Edgecomb Gray by Benjamin Moore for the bathroom cabinets.

It was the perfect warm gray to compliment the rest of the bathroom design.

I painted the cabinet doors and drawer in the garage with a foam roller and paint brush. They needed about two coats of paint, so it took two days to finish.

I used the same foam roller and paint brush to paint the vanity box.

Next, I reinstalled the cabinet doors and drawer. Then I added brass cabinet hardware as a final touch. The paint color really changed depending on the angle to looked at it! See how much brighter it looks below?

This was an easy weekend project that anyone could do. The finish turned out great. It looks so much better with a fresh coat of paint! And some updated hardware.

Instead of buying an expensive new bathroom cabinet, we were able to give our 90’s vanity a major upgrade for much less cost. It looks so much more modern! And fits right in with our primary bathroom remodel.
